Guy in my office is going to St. Joe Bay for a week next week.

Letting him borrow one of my surf rods. He wants to fish from the beach.

Any advice on what to use and how to rig?

Tip it with peeled shrimp or better yet a sand flea....Mmmmm pompano crack!!

Florida record Pompano 8lb 4oz , caught in St. Joe Bay!!

shrimp on the bottom works from what I hear....some mullet on the bottom could catch a redfish, catfish, stingray, crab or a shark

Would this info apply to the gulf side also?

And thanks for the tips.
Chalk
Yes near the cape, the further into the bay you go the shallower it gets
