Ok. First day started early. Our Panguero, Chanto, met us at the beach and we hopped on board, excited as hell.
We got into fish early. We caught probably 10 each on the first school. Unfortunately, my 10wt broke on the 3rd cast (assuming damage in transit was the cause). I switched to the 12wt and was presently surprised how it casted. Oh yeah, the fish look like this:
Chanto told me he'd never caught a fish on fly. I took a beer break and handed him my rod. 3 terrible casts later the problem was resolved.
Most of the fish that day were about this size:
Then I saw a big bull on the outside of the school. I made a couple casts to him. Leading him about 10 feet on the 3rd cast got his attention and fish on!
Above, sadly, was the last photo of my 12wt in it's original condition. After about a 30 minute battle the rod broke in 3 places. I fought the fish in on the remaining 4ft or so of my fly rod and landed him.
more photos coming...
