Well, one of my 'snook' rods bit the dust this weekend, snapping in half loudly in front of family and friends as I cast.

Yeah it was a walmart special...

I am looking for opinions on a good 'snook' rod in the $50-$60 range?
I'll be putting a spinning reel on it...I have a mid-size Shimano Baitrunner

(rod will do double-duty as cobia pitch rod, too)

thanks

I think it was Borf who had some Marathon rods ... I threw one once, seemed like a good stick for this application.

I have a Cape Fear 8-17lb rod I like for docks, but it's not quite what I would want for a cobia rod.

Star Aerial Is what I use with my Baitrunners 4500 and 6500's

I throw them at snook, tarpon, cobia, kings, etc.

http://www.tackledirect.com/star-aerial-rods.html

Dick's sporting goods in MLB has them if you need to pick them up somwhat locally. They also carry Redbone rods there as well.

The above run between $70 and $90 and have at minimum 5 year warrantys.

If they above is out of the price range look at Tsunami rods. For the price they are pretty damn good. I have two I use for the above as well as deep jigging. I believe they were in the $45 to $55 dollar range.

Then there are always the Ugly Sticks, another good general purpose rod for not much $$$

Thank you guys! I will seek those out, and see if I can't stretch my budget to be $70

I don't wanna have to worry about reliability this time

cheers

If you don't get in on a deal at Sports Authority, the Ugly Stick Tiger Lites in 7' heavy action work well for me. Bass Pro has some rebate going on with them right now.

Ended up wif an Ugly Stik. However, I broke tradition and it is a "one-piece" model.
